PostHeaderIcon Dont you just love Pocket Aces ?

aces

Pocket Aces, aka as Snake Eyes, American Airlines, Rockets, or silver bullets, is the strongest starting a player can get in texas holdem poker. Against any single opponent, your chances of taking the pot are around 85% if you go all in before the flop. So why then do so many people complain about how they’ve lost huge pots with Aces all the time?

Well one of the main reasons is just luck of the draw, even with an 85% chance of winning, that means that 15% of people will still lose all the facebook poker chips by going all in. Spread that percentage over a few million players and you’re left with quite a few people who have a bone to pick with the “bullets”.

But the main reason most people lose with Aces is much simpler than odds, its just poor play. Aces can turn the best of players into complete amateurs because people tend to fall in love with this hand. The chance of getting Aces in facebook poker are about 1 in 220, so when it does finally hit, its incredibly hard to lay it down. Even after players realize an opponent might have a better hand after the flop, they just can’t help but throw more and more facebook chips at the problem, hoping that it will somehow turn around for them.

Players generally misplay Aces in 2 ways:

Slow play: There’s a big element of excitement when a player gets Aces. Your first instinct is to go all in and see how many players you can get to call, but then another side of you thinks that might scare everyone out and announce that you have the bullets. So you try to drag other players into the game with less than spectacular raises of facebook poker chips. Maybe you don’t even raise, you just call another players raise or check it. Knowing the odds a little better might explain why these undersized raises usually end in tears. While Aces may take the pot 85% of the time against one opponent, that number drops down to 73% when there are 2 other players and 64% when there are 3 others. And if 5 other people are in the pot, the odds fall even further down below 50%.

Being starstruck: This is a common mistake among intermediate and beginner players whose skills at reading their opponents hands are not yet refined. While preflop your Aces are usually solid, a flop of 7h 8h Jh opens up the table to all kinds of flushes and straights and your hand strength plummets. But players are often so thrilled to get pocket aces and so convinced that it’s finally their shot and winning a huge pot of facebook poker chips that they turn a blind eye to any possibility that their hand might have already been bested by an opponent’s. They continue to ram more and more poker chips into the pot in the hope that either everyone else will fold, or they’ll land another ace and get trips. This situation rarely ends well.

There is no shame in winning a medium sized pot when your opponents fold to your big pre-flop raise. It’s just part of the game, and it will keep you from being outdrawn and overplaying. There is a lesson to be learned here. Don’t fall in love with Aces. Just like a woman, if you hang on to them longer than you should – they’ll take all your money and leave you broke.

Those who follow the exciting vast array of professional poker tours may know that know that Jennifer Tilly is a big fan of poker, and she often competes in satellite tournament games and even won a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2005 for the ladies no limit texas holdem event in which she outlasted a whopping 600 other top players. But what you might not know is that she has an big rack. Ok, so maybe you did know this, especially if you’re a guy who has seen some of her films over the past decade lol
So can you Imagine the level of concentration it would take to play against her in a real life texas holdem game as you try to check your cards, calculate your odds, figure out your outs, get a read on your opponents.. and stare down her shirt. What a great way to take the focus off your poker tells. The WSOP should consider implementing some kind of limits on allowable cleavage, or at least require that anyone wearing low cut shirts give lapdances after the tournament ends.

So you’re probably asking yourself why I’m writing about Jennifer Tilly’s rack and what it has to do with facebook poker chips or texas holdem, and heres the answer: absolutely nothing.

PostHeaderIcon Are you a “bingo donkey” player in facebook poker ?

pokerdonkey9-300x223

To know whether or not you’re a facebook poker bingo superstar, you must first understand exactly what a poker donkey is. A donkey in poker is someone who plays loose and wild, but always manages to catch his card on the river and win the hand aka “river rat”. He’s the guy (or girl) who wets themselves with joy when they get dealt Ace – King because they just cant wait for the Ace to fall on the flop so they can go all in and win it. But when the Ace doesn’t fall, they go all in anyway because – hey…the Ace *always* comes right? Well in the case of a facebook poker donkey, yeah .. it usually does.
The Ace – King all in is a classic facebook poker donkey move, but they also have other moves that can help distinguish them. If any of these seem familiar to you because they’re part of your playing style, you might be a facebook poker donkey:
You chase anything and everything.

When you get 7 – 2 offsuit, the first thing that comes to your mind is “I should fold this…but what if 7 – 7 – 2 comes on the flop? The poker donkey is the eternal optimist, unable and unwilling to put down any cards because of the 3% chance that he might land a huge hand on the flop.
You were born to call.

Did someone who has been raising the entire hand just go all in after the river? They probably have a very strong hand, but what the hell right? Call their bet and show ‘em whose boss with your monster pocket pair! A donkey will call just about every raise if there is the smallest chance that they might hit their flush or straight, however slim the chances. Donkeys love the excitement of being “in the pot” and to them poker is more of adrenaline rush then a game of skill and discipline.
You love to bluff.

The poker donkey is a master of bluffing. The worse their hand is, the more they feel the need to bluff with huge raises. They watched a video on youtube about how to bluff in texas holdem and they believe they’ve mastered the most difficult maneuver in poker in 10 minutes of study. This particular breed of donkey can be distinguished by their nervous “chatter” in the chat box, something along the lines of “GO AHED AND CALL I DARE YOU” or “I HAVE ACEZ LOLZ!!”.
You’re always begging for chips.

chipsplease

This is perhaps the most telling and obvious characteristic of the facebook poker donkey. No matter how hot of a lucky streak a donkey might catch, in the end the odds always catch up with them and they lose all their facebook poker chips. Thats when they start out on their mission from room to room announcing to all their friends about how they almost won a huge pot but instead lost all their chips, and if they could just loan them a few million they will get paid back right away. Yeah..sure thing donkey, just let me finish this hand.

PostHeaderIcon Is it possible to cheat in Facebook poker?

Poker-Cheaters-300x199

This is probably most searched for question when it comes to facebook texas holdem. “Are there cheats for facebook poker?” or “Do you know any facebook poker hacks?” are asked constantly on poker and gaming forums all across the internet.

Unfortunately for those doing the searching, their questions are usually met with responses from hackers or scammers trying to steal their account information so they can steal their facebook poker chips. Unwitting players looking to boost their facebook chip stack are fooled into downloading free bots, trainers, programs that are filled with viruses or phishing sites that gather their passwords so that others can easily steal their poker chips.

So to answer this question once and for all: No, there are no programs or bots that actually increase your chips the way they promise. There used to be a few methods floating around on youtube that would allow new players to easily get a few thousand facebook chips, but those methods have all since been made useless by new updates that the game makers have installed.

Now all that is left is silly attempts by amateur hackers trying to gain access to your facebook or myspace accounts by publishing ridiculously bad videos or putting up poorly made websites. Think twice about how badly you want to find the next cheat for facebook poker before you download one of the programs, because you may find that instead of millions of facebook poker chips, you now have 0.
